Omnieyes gained favor with Taiwan Pelican Express, one of the greatest logistics in Taiwan. By combining its significant edge computing skill with motion image, Omnieyes provided its motion image solution-MyFleet-to ITTS(Information Technology Total Services)in order to build a tailor-made AloT center for Pelican. The official launch was announced at the 20th-anniversary celebration of Pelican in July this year.

Chairman Ms. Qiu Chun-zhi said,” In terms of technological innovation, we are appreciated to have the opportunity to cooperate with Omnieyes and ITTS to integrate AI technology into logistics fleet management in the new generation. We’re dedicated to creating Taiwan’s first AI-based AIoT control center, moving towards smart logistics”.

The main function of the Myfleet automobile image solution is to actively recognize driving behavior through images so that to assist the fleet management and control center to be able to monitor the driver’s situation in real-time. Spotted Myfleet’s accuracy of recognition and practicality, Pelican is insightful to bring Myfleet into the company’s new-generation control center.

Xu Qing-Yi, the general manager of Pelican, said: “The control center is like the heart of Pelican. For the first-generation system, we focused on resource management, recording movement lines, and also managing fuel consumption; the second-generation control center further brings into AI. With dynamic image recognition technology, the current stage is mainly to prevent violations.

The current Pelican control center can not only monitor the real-time dynamics of all logistics vehicles in real-time, but also use AI image recognition technology to interpret the images, and it can also directly monitor the violations of drivers. Whenever a situation occurs, an image record will be sent to the control center, and the helping managers remind the driving as soon as possible to avoid accidents.

However, whether AI technology can be applied in practice after the development is completed, Professor Chou, the CEO of technology and one of the founders, believes that the big challenge is whether customers can have a clear ROI. Take the example of Pelican, MyFleet’s solution allows the control center to monitor the driver’s situation in real-time, and accurately determine whether the driver has violated the rules, idling, and other behaviors. The effect can be observed through tickets and fuel saving.

Liu Zheng-Xin, COO of ITTS, said, “In the planning of the AIoT control center, the purpose of introducing AI real-time image monitoring is to reduce violations, diminish risks during driving, ensure drivers’ safety, and protect company assets. It can reduce costs by about NTD$ 5 million a year.”

“The precise data and images provided by this mobile image management system will subsequently assist Pelican in driver training, and use examples to educate and reduce accidents; In addition, this system also breaks through the previous limitation of obtaining a record from SIM card. It can store the current images of the driving dispute in the Cloud. It is not restricted by SIM cards and can quickly and completely clarify responsibilities. When the incident occurs, the line control center can not only obtain information, but also protect data, and take action to ensure drivers’ safety.

Based on edge AI computing, Omnieyes develops unique software-defined sensing technology. It can customize various abnormal event detection functions according to their needs. Take an example of fleet management, dangerous driving including running red lights, driving in reverse, not stopping at intersections, and up to six illegal parking behaviors are all based on the actual needs of customers.

More importantly, these powerful functions can be implemented on a variety of hardware platforms. Through the 4G/5G networking function, software OTA can be used to realize full-time and full-domain flexible operation and dynamic deployment of various management functions. Chou, CEO of Omnieyes, said that Omnieyes wants to build a dynamic street capital sharing platform that combines software-defined detection technology with different related industries. In addition to assisting customers in their digital transformation, they also use this platform to achieve a new ecological chain of information exchange and profit-sharing. “The cooperation between Omnieyes and Pelican is an important step in this vision, and it also gives the team more confidence to gradually achieve this great goal.”

The predecessor of Omnieyes was the “Ministry of Science and Technology’s Startup program” team. It was co-founded by three professors from National Taiwan University, Chou Jun-ting, Pang Ai-jun, and Lin Shou-de. It received funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the support of many institutional investors. Let the R&D achievements that were originally hidden in the school be able to successfully establish a spin-off startup company into the market. The professional coaching of the Taiwan Startup Institute (TSI), also helps the team to enter the operational state in the shortest possible time. Through TSI, it helps match investors and business partners, it has also been the key to the rapid growth and commercialization of Omnieyes.
